In announcing the possible impact of this brand new format, Serenade founder Max Shand declared in a press release in which he said that "Digital Pressings will be a game changer on the global stage," declaring the possibility that this format will allow musicians to "offer their international audiences something truly unique and engaging," Shand declared.

Shand talked more about his ideas of his vision for Digital Pressing format in an Instagram post that emphasized the format as a way to broaden the scope of the album release cycle for artists around the world. Digital Pressings are being promoted as giving artists with the chance to present their work in a similar way to what they would do with an album on traditional vinyl without any of the disadvantages.

In addition to boasting a two-week lead time, as opposed to the six-to-nine months needed for a vinyl release Digital Pressings could also be much more eco-friendly. According to the press release from Serenade, "one average 12[-inch] vinyl has the equivalent carbon footprint of 197,100 Digital Pressings."

Leading the way for the introduction of this new format is the English rock group Muse which is set to release the ninth album of their studio The Will of the People on August 26 under the new format. For long-time Muse followers, the change will create an interesting analogy with other English rock group Radiohead which famously shattered convention when they released their long-awaited album in Rainbows through the "pay what you want" digital download.

Every Digital pressing of Will of the People -and any subsequent albums that are released in this format will count towards one album sales in the chart. In this pilot launch, sales information will appear on charts for music within Australia and the U.K. and Australian markets for music.
